Clemson Rookies Defeat Lander
Sep 10, 2008 Twenty five new players took the field last Friday night against Lander University. They joined only 13 club veterans on the field on their way to a 54-7 victory over Lander. The rookies showed a surprising aptitude for their first game, and what they lacked in game knowledge, made up for with atleticism.
"Our new players really played well," commented coach Henry. "They supported well at the breakdown, and made some remarkably good decisions at the point of contact. All of the coaches are very excited about teaching the game to this group of young players." The veterans that did participate Friday night did well in leading the new players and directing them into good positions.
Clemson will next host Appalachian State on Friday September 12 at 7pm. App State will be a tougher match, as they are known for a more physical brand of rugby. Clemson rugby invites all supporters to the game to cheer on the Tigers!
