Clemson Rugby Helps Teach Young Athletes

Feb 26, 2008 Nine members of the Clemson Rugby Team participated in a youth sports clinic last Saturday at the Central-Clemson Recreation Center in Central, SC. The clinic was aimed at teaching young men and women age 9-14 the basics in agility, balance, quickness and power. The team members acted as counselors during the clinic and helped demonstrate and guide the participants through each of the activities.

The clinic was organized and led by Clemson Rugby strength and conditioning coach Paul Goldstein. Goldstein works as a personal trainer at the Central-Clemson Recreation Center in addition to training the Southern Wesleyan University baseball team and the Clemson University Men's Rugby Club.

Special thanks go to rugby team members Jordan Byrd, Nolton Oneal, Appie Wells, Matt McCarthy, Ted Chapman, Fred Bryan, Stephen Bryant, Matt Starkey, and Stefan Friend for their participation.
