Tigers Tripped Up By Golden Knights in Boggy Knoxville
Sunday, April 28
Knoxville, TN - After dispatching the University of South Carolina 29-7 on Saturday, and advancing to the Elite 8 on Sunday, the Clemson Tigers were knocked out of the competition by a relentless University of Central Florida team. The Tigers found themselves down early, 3-24, having elected to play into the flooded end of the pitch first, and fought back on sturdier ground, to get within four points at 20-24 roughly 15 minutes left to play. However, missed opportunities and a staunch UCF defense will haunt the Tigers over the off season.
It was an incredible season, with a narrow second place finish in the ACRL at a record of 6-1, dropping the only match in a close one to Navy, and a 7-2 overall finish in the competitive season (10-2 including preseason matches versus college opposition).
The Tigers will honor the seniors and departing players on Friday at the annual banquet, and begin to look forward to another successful campaign in the 2013-14 season. A special thank you to all players, staff, alumni, administration, families, friends and supporters for a fantastic year. All of your hard work and commitment to the program is greatly appreciated! Go Tigers!
